Dark spots can be one of the hardest skin concerns to treat and one of the slowest to show visible improvement. Whether they're from sun exposure, past breakouts, or other changes in pigmentation, it can be frustrating when your skin tone still looks uneven despite your efforts.
Skin Script Mandelic Brightening Serum gently exfoliates to help improve the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven tone while also helping keep pores clear and smooth rough texture.
What Makes It Different
This serum is especially useful when pigmentation isn't your only concern. If you're also dealing with breakouts, clogged pores, excess oil, or rough texture, you can address several concerns in the same step.
It gently clears away dead skin cells that can make skin look dull and uneven while helping improve discoloration and keep pores clearer.
It also provides a gentler approach to exfoliation, making it a nice option when you want visible brightening and smoothing benefits but your skin doesn't do particularly well with stronger acids.
Key Ingredients
5% L-Mandelic Acid
Gently exfoliates to help fade the look of dark spots, smooth uneven texture, keep pores clear, and soften the appearance of fine lines.
3% Azeloglicina®
Helps improve dark spots and uneven tone while balancing excess oil and calming redness from breakouts.
1% Niacinamide
Helps improve uneven pigmentation and redness while strengthening skin's natural moisture barrier.
Synovea® HR (Hexylresorcinol)
A brightening antioxidant that works alongside niacinamide to help improve dark spots and uneven skin tone.
Why It Stands Out
- Helps improve the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and post-breakout marks
- Brightens uneven skin tone and dull-looking skin
- Gently exfoliates to smooth rough, uneven texture
- Helps keep pores clear when clogged pores and breakouts are also concerns
- Helps balance excess oil without leaving skin feeling overly dry
- Helps improve the appearance of fine lines
- A gentler way to exfoliate when stronger acids are too much for your skin
Pila's tip: Dark spots take time, so this is one of those products where consistency matters. I like it when you want to work on pigmentation without immediately reaching for a stronger acid, especially when clogged pores, breakouts, or excess oil are concerns too. Start slowly and give your skin time to adjust.
How to Use
Shake well before use. After cleansing and toning, apply a thin layer to the face, neck, and chest.
Start 2–3 evenings per week and increase gradually based on how your skin responds. Skin Script says it can be used daily, but reduce frequency if you experience dryness or sensitivity.
Follow with moisturizer. Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning, especially when using exfoliating acids.
Pairs Well With
Skin Script Honey Brightening Cleanser
Pair with it when dark spots, dullness, and uneven tone are your main concerns. Because both products exfoliate, adjust how often you use them together based on how your skin responds.
Skin Script Glycolic & Retinol Pads
Add these when you want a more intensive approach to dark spots, uneven tone, and texture. I wouldn't necessarily use the pads and Mandelic Brightening Serum in the same routine at first. Alternate evenings and increase gradually based on how your skin responds.
Skin Script Acai Berry Moisturizer
Adds moisture and antioxidant support to help keep skin comfortable while using exfoliating products.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Skin Script Mandelic Brightening Serum help with dark spots?
A: Yes. It's formulated to help improve the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone, including discoloration left behind by past breakouts.
Q: Can Mandelic Brightening Serum help with clogged pores and breakouts?
A: Yes. It exfoliates dead skin cells that can contribute to clogged pores while also helping balance excess oil and calm redness from breakouts.
Q: Is mandelic acid gentler than glycolic acid?
A: Mandelic acid has a larger molecular size than glycolic acid, so it penetrates the skin more slowly. That's one reason it can be a better choice when your skin doesn't tolerate stronger acids particularly well.
Q: Can I use Skin Script Mandelic Brightening Serum every day?
A: Skin Script says it can be used daily, but I recommend starting more slowly. Begin 2–3 evenings per week and increase based on how your skin responds. Reduce frequency if you notice dryness or sensitivity.
Q: Do I need to have breakouts to use Mandelic Brightening Serum?
A: No. You can use it when your main concerns are dark spots from sun exposure, hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, or rough texture. Its ability to also address clogged pores and excess oil makes it especially useful when you're dealing with both.
